2015: Year in Review

As we are excited to ring in 2016, we wanted to share some moments from 2015 and thank everyone who visited Port Gamble over the past year. Some of the businesses recorded their best days in business. It is so nice to see the support for small businesses in this quaint historical town.

Port Gamble Weddings & Events helped nearly 70 excited couples host their wedding day at St. Paul's Church and the Hood Canal Vista Pavilion. The lifetime of memories created is countless and we thank each and every one of the newlyweds for a fun year!

The Port Gamble Trails had a huge year with races like the Roots Rock Run Lumberjack Endurance Run, the Stottlemeyer 30/60 (Washington State's largest mountain bike race), Budu Racing's West Side Series, challenged hundreds of local and regioinal recreationalists. Conservation continues on with various partnerships like Kitsap County Parks. Organizations like the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance and the North Kitsap Trails Association continue to be instrumental in the success of the Port Gamble Trails system and are constantly striving to provide a safe and challenging environment for recreational enthusiasts. Thank you!

The old mill site is undergoing a huge transformation as town owners Olympic Resource Management and Olympic Property Group LLC in conjunction with the Washington State Department of Ecology and other organiztions have launched the Port Gamble Bay Cleanup Project. The cleanup process aims to eliminate threats to human health and the environment while minimizing impacts of cleanup. When feasible, cleanup crews will remove pilings and excavate intertidal areas when the tide is out.Crews will also restrict dredging to the cooler months, use environmental dredge buckets and turbidity curtains to reduce re-contamination of the dredging area, and monitor water quality. Current updates can be found at the project website: www.portgamblebaycleanup.com.

Thousands of visitors in 2015 took in events like June Faire, Old Mill Days Americana, Fibers & Fabrics, Maritime Music Festival, Muddy Paws Dog Agility Trials, SteamPort Gamble Steampunk Festival, and our annual Country Christmas celebration. Many also enjoyed live productions at the Port Gamble Theater hosting their best season yet. They have an amazing line up set for 2016. You can buy tickets for the shows at www.portgambletheater.com.

Port Gamble Paranormal events like Ghost Walk Tours, Special Investigations and the Port Gamble Ghost Conference continue to grow in demand. The 6th Annual Ghost Conference saw its biggest turnout in 2015 of nearly 180 paranormal enthusiasts making the conference the largest of its kind in the Northwest. Stay up to date with the paranormal events at www.portgamble.wix.com/pt-gamble-paranormal.

Again, thank you to everyone who visited the town and our museums in 2015. We look forward to seeing you here in 2016. DOWNLOAD our 2016 CALENDAR OF EVENTS to see what we have in store for you!

Happy New Year,

Olympic Property Group & Port Gamble
